I feel incredibly lucky to have played this masterpiece, enjoyed every second of it and think it developed so fast that it's worth replaying to get to recognize more details.
For me this whole reviews situation is frustrating. Throughout the plot, I was suspiciously looking for moments that could have irritated people so much, and I saw NONE, the game got better and better. Like the blue or gold dress, you look at it and can't believe other people see something completely different.
Still shocked that Naughty Dog managed to create Part 2 even more emotionally rich than Part 1. I was sceptic about this before the release but trusted they won't let down.
I found every character understandable emotionally. They might have made some "unlogical" actions, but this is exactly what I admire: they are NOT robots, NOT killing machines, BUT real people, that can be explained if you just step in their shoes for a second. And the way they are all on different sides of the fence despite many being good people is just WOW. I couldn't get rid of the feeling that Ellie and Abby had so much in common and would have a lot to talk about, but it was simply impossible for them.
Now a comment to those who complain that Joel "was smart and they made him weak". Who are you, superhumans? How can you oppose smartness to weakness? A smart person CAN show weakness! Joel was always alert in Part 1 trying to protect Ellie and in Jackson he had no reason to be while saving a lonely girl in a storm. Sorry, but if you only enjoy straightforward characters go watch Disney cartoons.
As for the gameplay, huge progress is graphics and camera movement, it made the experience fully immersive like a movie. A paramount amount of work in keeping scars, blood and bruises on characters after corresponding events. As a fan of Part 1, it was revealing to find out that many game controls and the general vibe stayed the same. Not the God Of War kind of case where parts barely have anything in common.
The only sad part: I don't believe there will ever be other games as special as The Last of Us. Huge love and respect from me and my husband to the whole team for their sleepless nights!
