The Deer Hunter has scenes of pure boredom having an initial setting in a factory town where nothing changes and life is marriage, old age and death... interlaced with scenes of surprising excitement and terror. The story follows three men from a 'middle America' town, during the early 70s or late 60s, that go to war in Vietnam and shows how the war changed their lives.
