Ever had a stalker who could impregnate your life without you noticing and can go to lengths you wouldn't have imagined possible. Well this show is about such a guy. At points I felt for the protagonist, espeically when you realize what exaclty from his past has insidously made him into what he is. He has an astute observation and so much knowledge that he is capable of applying in trouble shooting and "we need a hero" moments. There is charm, depth and darkness all that makes him too good to be true and if you are a sane woman, you would pry. He has a mind of "Dexter" and knows how to clean up his tracks but at the same time vulnerable and lands himself into near disaster situations. His love interest is reckless and is surrounded by pretentious girls, she also has no idea how to straighten up her life. Alot of drama on her part which is toxicity for him but he breathes in that space well, somehow. Over all, the show teaches you about obsession, selfishness and toxic relationships that you get addicted to. How we need to analyze such friendships, affairs and how to end them before they have consumed us.

There aren't many web series that showcase matriarch-led businesses (handled with feminine shrewdness or "wisdom" to be fair). I was blown by Dimple Kapadia's screen presence & persona. I had only seen some of her performances but this in particular did justice to her as an actor. I would credit it to the director who was able to orchestrate fine performances from relatively newer actors & extrapolate an acting profile. All of the characters show growth in this season & leave you wishing for more. I am not going to talk in-depth about what this show is about - but in short, you can imagine it to be an advanced drug laundering business led by fierce females who have tragic backgrounds & their strength to loot what is taken from them is stemming from the teachings of their misfortunes. Men in this series are shown to be less of leaders but more of followers and order-takers which is quite the reverse of how rural society functions. I even enjoyed the theme based on folklore musical tunes that made the series more enchanting.

I guess sometimes not reading the novels can make you a good judge of cinema🤷 I loved the first season & look forward to the next. The actor who plays Rowan did a gripping performance with her features & fierce eyes. The overall cast is also well-selected, it's hard not to like the sinister character of Lasher - even though the story revolves around witches, Lasher does a fine depiction of any human's fight against practicing free will to do as they please. Rowan and Lasher grow onto you as they grow onto each other & with every episode you wish Rowan to come into the power of mysticism. As someone who hasn't read the novels & loves fantasy that takes hints from real life - I recommend it to all those who might have enjoyed series like Sabrina on Netflix.
