Beautiful, terrifyingly immersive & emotional. Mads Mikkelso was even more brilliant than usual. For a first film, Joe Penna was exceptional and real. Very visceral & emotional film that was very thought provoking, asking what would you do in his situation, the choices you'd make especially if you didn't have his obviously excellent survival skills as a pilot and probably an experienced camper. Next, to the stupid reviewers here, who either didn't watch the entire movie, or pay attention to small details, or even listen to any of the stories about the movie when shown at Cannes or interviews with the director. It is NOT based on a true story...Penna planned to film it as a Mars survival story but that was too difficult technically he only had 2 million to spend, so chose the hardest climate & most isolated place on Earth. For all those saying they needed backstory, Odegaard's history, There was enough info if you paid attention-you could figure all of it out. Penna said he wanted viewers' to see it as a puzzle and figure it out for themselves. Same with the ending. No spoilers here! But after crying the last 10 minutes, my heart broke with joy. Also to those who said there was no water on the map he used, seriously? Yes, on the entire left side of the map it was water with 2 tiny islands. Rest of map was extreme terrain. And at the end, it's not an ocean lol it's a lake or river or onlet, you can see the mountains & shore on the other side! Don't post a review if you're not going to watch every minute carefully. This was the best survival movie I've ever seen
