Hi Samuel W. I have to add, that I believe in the ¨real world¨ that Sam could not take care of Lucy by himself. In the movie the lawyer mentioned to Sam that there is another option to take and that is to co-parent with the foster mother. He will not be successful in raising Lucy alone.
