It is on a short bookshelf of fundamentally important works from the Oxford University Programming Research Group, along with the writings of Tony Hoare, Steve Schneider, and Bill Roscoe. The theoretical work of this group has extended beyond computer science to influence researchers in biology, behavioral science, and other fields.
