Why do movie studios insist on making popular books into movies and then ignoring the plot and characters that made the books so popular? The plot was a mess and while the actors most likely did the best with what they were given, the characters had no chance of being interesting with their original personalities, back stories, and motives removed. Mulch was the highlight of the movie for me for a couple instances of witty banter but even his character wasn't right (and unfortunately his voice is so recognizable it sounded like the movie was being narrated by Olaf the snowman). They obviously want to go for a sequel but I have no earthly clue what would happen in a sequel since they already went off book so hard.
