So, I'm about half way through Season 2 (of 3 seasons so far). I would say, eh. The plots are not very good. There are a lot of holes in the plots. Things seem to happen that don't make sense in real life. For example (spoiler!!!), the fact that the DA would even be able to make it to court on a case that is about her family? The fact that there is no evidence on the lantern to indicate that anyone in the Walker family was actually there? The fact that the barn had been on the property for 20 years and no one found it, but the one teenager who fell and mistakenly happened upon it? It was a death investigation, how did that barn not get raked over? This is just one example from a few episodes. The whole 'Walker/Davidson' feud feels a bit forced and made for some cringe moments. I liked the first season better and the mystery about Emily's death, but the second season so far feels really fake and forced.
I am a Supernatural fan and was enthusiastic about seeing what Jared Padalecki would do with this role. I never watched the original WTR series, so didn't come into this with any notion of what it should be like, but I think his acting is not very good in this show. It feels like he is not breathing well and his dialog is very hard to watch. If he just presenting his dialog like he did in SN, I don't think it would be nearly as hard to watch.
I was bummed when Mikki left the show, but it's understandable. I feel like the person they got to replace her is a good fit. She acts well and it feels authentic. I'm bummed that Trey is sort of dangling hopefully they round out his story. Bummer for the actor since his reason for being on the show left.
Anyway..it's just okay. Not great, but not the worst. I'll probably keep watching, but only because it's there. I know it took a few seasons for SN to find it's footing, and I'm hoping this happens for WTR.
