This is going to be a long one.
As a big fan of the Until Dawn game I honestly was excited, I was eager to see how a beloved video game like Until Dawn would be adapted into film.
I was disappointed.
1. Only terrifying thing in this movie was their over reliance on jump scares.
2. The characters, they don’t make sense the movie provides us with some information regarding their back stories but the way they are portrayed was not consistent at all.
3. Tap water causes people to explode, I don’t need to elaborate it is exactly that.
4. Source material is based on the Wendigo Spirit, in this movie this felt more like an after thought. Why, seemed like it was more centered on a murderer who is apparently the terminator cannot get killed or harmed until it was needed for the story to progress. They included a witch, why idk. When they tried to leave I did not expect a cameo from the titans.
After a brief discussion with friends and family they have come to the conclusion that as a standalone this movie isn’t bad.
However I disagree with them.
This movie is all around bad it felt extremely tacky, while watching it I couldn’t help but be reminded of happy death day.
And honestly this just felt like a low budget blum house movie.
I am not in the industry but Jesus can we stop making such bad movies, especially when movies from 15 years ago used to be so much better.
