Missing Review
The first movie I ever watched about technology and a tech savvy girl living alone was " The Net". I have been so inspired by that character since I was 8. Nowadays technology is different and instead of making people unknown it makes one all too known. I watched unlocked a korean movie about a phone being cloned by a repairman destroys a young woman's life.
When I first read the theme of this movie I thought this is another movie to scare people off of social media. But I have never been wrong. 80% of the movie is shot in a bed room and it revolves around a 40+ woman gone missing and her 18 years old screen addict daughter investigating the disappearance from her bedroom. There were so many new apps I got introduced through via this movie.
What I loved about this movie most was there were no VFX, action stunts, unrealistic detective skills involved. It is all so real and everything sounds so next door. A mother daughter duo not getting along well due to the generation gap and having a bitter sweet relationship. It subtly portrays how teenagers take their parents for granted and never care to give a second thought to their parents struggles. Its so so hard to be an involved parent.
Despite being low budget, having little known actors and shot hardly 2 locations this movie with its twists and turns is a nail biting thriller. Anyone who is sick of super heroes, people having unrealistic skill sets, loud music and melodrama this is your weekend watch.
