Horrible camera angle. A girl smiling - grinning ear to ear - when the chandler smashes. Over acting. It’s trying to hard to be renewed - too close close ups, downward angles, upward angles… long shots. Why not just shoot a good film. Don’t try so hard. Just make a good film. Since KB has taken this role over it’s just too - toooo much - trying to be artistic. A close up of a lamp on a table. A close up of a typewriter… followed by down shots. It’s like a student film - maybe a graduate student at best - the tops of heads. A close up of hands. These are some fine actors and rather than shooting them at their best and shooting reactions it is just close up after close up. Why don’t the backers get a good director in. It could have been a good film… instead we get a close up of a parrot, of individual actors, of a piece of paper - it’s just baddddddd.

A high school drama class could do better… this is baddddd. You can see the fear - haha - they shake and have this wide eyes look you get when you’re out and have to find a bathroom and can’t. The score is about the best thing going for it. We watched and falling just stopped. It doesn’t even rank B movie status. The script - if there was one - was one dimensional and you could hear “the actors” just reciting sentences and using cuss words to round out the shallows of their character development. It was just sad, unfortunate, and really not even rising to the level of satire. Snooze.

In 2024 to read these homophobic reviews is saddening. It’s a good film. The cinematography is excellent. The staging excellent. The cast is solid. All the cast are at their best. It’s about a father’s dilemma and the fight scene is crucial to the film. It’s really good acting. Moreso it’s about the painful choices we make that could have been better choices. Transcend the homophobia and see the deeper meaning within this excellent film.
