If I could give this book a no star I would. Most of this book is drinks, and if you love the taste of black licorice and Fernet then this book is for you. Other wise you will hate 70% of the drinks in this book.
As for the food. I spent about 6 weeks with this book cooking over 8 recipes from it. The proportions of off, the cook times are off.
If you value the pluming in your kitchen DO NOT attempt to make the Spaetzle. Good luck cleaning up that mess.
Almost every recipe calls for ingredients that most people have never heard of, and certainly do not exist in a regular food or liqueur store. And the last time I checked about 90% of the people in Maine DO NOT live anywhere near one.
So unless you're a hipster with a lot of money, who lives right next to a specialty food and liqueur store, have nothing to do, loves (or pretends to love) the taste of black licorice and Fernet, and has weird friends who act the same way then YES this book is for you. I on the other hand did not spend $30. for it in the store, deciding instead to spend $7. for it on Amazon, then after 6 weeks threw it in the trash.
