The film really resonated with me. Maybe it was the connection between Mulan and her father. The opening narration of Mulan’s father and a scene where Mulan says something along the lines of wishing she was a son to be able to take her father’s place in the army, that really hit home for me. Some people might have wanted this movie to be exactly like the original but I am so happy with the new adjustments. As a girl who has had to humble many talents in a patriarchal community this movie truly brought my inner child some peace.
