I loved Dakota’s softness, warmth, and wit as Jane and found the entire family perfectly and entertainingly portrayed. I have recently reread the book and found that I appreciate the modernization of the script and cast. I feel that Anne is much more relatable in this movie than in other adaptations. If you enjoyed Mansfield Park (1999) this script has a similar feel. The filming is almost on par with Pride and Prejudice (2005), though I’m not sure the locations, music, sets, and costumes of that movie could ever be topped. I will definitely be adding this film to my favorites. Jane Austen’s work is truly timeless.
