Despite how this book is categorised, it is not science fiction. There is no science in the book. There is a shred of science hinted at but it is not fiction - it was scientific common knowledge last century. How that scientific knowledge is put to use in this story may be illegal in most parts of our present world but that doesn't count as science fiction in my eyes. I'm not saying it's a terrible book (although I can't say I enjoyed it) but if you're hoping for science fiction, look elsewhere. Perhaps one of John Wyndham's books set in rural England might be more satisfying.
