I grew up in the area where this story takes place. Many of the places mentioned are familiar to me. So that aspect drew me to the book. The author is very creative in the way that he weaves familiar names and characters from that area, Cap, Red, Stout, into the story line, and he makes no apology for taking editorial liberties. The theme of the book comes through loud and clear: the equality of all humanity and the bravery needed to stand firm for that value. An enjoyable read.
