I am a huge fan of this franchise, granted I am a fan of films in general. Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl: The First One is a classic, Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest The Second One is fantastic and in my opinion better than the first, Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End The Third One is the epic conclusion to the trilogy, Never saw Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides The Fourth One, and now we have Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell no Tales the Fifth one which felt very tacked on, it isn't the worst movie I've ever seen but it isn't very good either lacking any sort of passion that the other films had and just felt very dull, unimaginative and kind of lifeless and sadly The cast didn't help either, Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa looking like he doesn't want to be there and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow which is the biggest detriment to the film with out doubt, do you remember the smart, cunning, resourceful and unpredictable lunatic we all knew and loved in the other films well in this film he has been reduced to a drunk, pathetic, bumbling, moron and it's not just part or half of the movie it was the entire film from beginning to end which really hurt the film and Javier Bardem who plays the movie's villain Salizar, the franchise has had great villains throughout the years mainly Captain Hector Barbossa being the first one who was amazing and then we had Davy Jones who is one of the best cinematic villains of all time and now we have Salizar who is fine, he is not the worst villain I've ever seen but isn't that particularly great or memorable either he is very meh also he doesn't get that much screen time which only adds to the frustration. Some more issues I have with the film is that there are continuity errors and plot holes in the movie as well which adds more to the frustration, like Jack Sparrow giving his compass to someone which unleashes Salizar despite the fact that in the other movies the compass was being passed on to a bunch of different people and nothing ever happened, it's only because of this film, and also how Jack got the compass in the first place was changed, in the trilogy it was explained that it was given to him by Tia Dalma but in this film it was a dying captain that gave it to him and Barbossa has a daughter now which brings up so many questions as to how that could have happened. So over all this film is not very good and I don't recommend this to anyone not even to a hardcore fan of this franchise but if you have seen it and absolutely loved it thats great, if you didn't like it than I will just say I feel your pain
