Slow, boring and pointless - stopped after an hour

Avoid losing your time and money to The Favourite - unless you may appreciate a pseudo-period, not subtle in the least attempt at dark comedic farce which squanders top notch acting talent and terrific costumes while showcasing bizarre (especially fisheye?) camera work and overlaying intrusive minimalist sound effects (slightly musical at times) within the framework of a really boring story. I finally finished watching this in my third sitting and really regret having rushed to buy this video based only on the charming Oscar acceptance speech by the lead actress Olivia Colman and an enticing, misleading trailer that made it look funny, fast, and clever - shame on me for not researching more thoroughly, I guess.
