Not going to be a popular opinion and it’s been about a year since I’ve read (only) the first book. After seeing the show come up… my annoyance for *the book* has resurfaced in full force. Truly, went into this REALLY wanting to like this series, which is why I’m so annoyed. Tried, really did, definitely enjoyed parts where the characters were not complete milquetoast. Wanted to like the characters but just really disliked them all, I’m assuming some of their flaws are lessened to make them at least tolerable in later books (except for Perrin’s arc, that one I thought was the best). The women characters are written in a way that made me wonder if he just recapped his adolescence and changed the gender to be female? At least you dislike all of the characters equally, just wish you cared (at all) what happens to them.
