I don’t know when the narrative changed about movies having a terrible ending, but I have seen a number of movies lately that would be considered good movies if they didn’t have a terrible ending. The menu is no exception. Overall the movie is very suspenseful and kept me interested throughout, but the ending was atrocious and it really ruined the movie for me.
