I felt the author had led the readers away from Licias crimes. However focusing on the family showed a family in denial before the murders. Although graphic in the murders I found the story confusing. Sad though. The ending of the book unexpected, leaving Cal alone in shock. The book is based on the atrocities of that day but making a fictional family. Interesting and difficult to put down.
