Cinematography is great. Movie is beautiful and the depiction of Gotham, batman, and most of the other characters was gritty, dark, and believable.
Music was mostly good, though at times overly moody and emotional, which would have worked as a good contrast with a less "emo" batman. However, pairing a very emo looking Batman with emo music is a bit much.
Pattison was great as Batman and awful as Bruce. Let me explain. His face literally fits the batman mask amazingly. And he just LOOKS the part as Batman. But why the hell did they style his hair like that for Bruce Wayne? It's just not consistent with who Bruce Wayne is in the Batman canon. Even outside the batman canon, it's just strange to see a billionaire 35 year old? wear their hair like that.
Wayyyyyyyy tooo long. Like, I know pause scenes were good for suspense and frame shots, but this should not have been more than 2 hours. Also, I felt the pacing was off. I prefer a slow burn. BUT this was wayyyy too slow. I mean, it's a Batman movie after all. The pace really made it hard for me to stay focused throughout.
Riddler was miscasted in my opinion. The actor playing Riddler looks too innocent for me. I feel Riddler needs to look a little more "off" and deranged. Not as off as joker, but not as normal as the guy who handles IT in your office. Also, I felt that his moments of talking sounded self important and overly pedantic. Too much philosophy. If you watch Dark Knight, Joker's blend of chaos, violence, and philosophy was brilliant. His pace was brilliant. I know they tried hard to make Riddler sinister and awkward, but he just seemed too "sweet" for me.
I didn't really like the Catwoman subplot. Her origin was lazily explained and her relationship to Anna was hard to appreciate.
I wouldn't watch this in a movie theatre. Watch it at home. Overall, it was ok. I really think I'd like it way more if it was an hour shorter.
