So off the bat I noticed the plot was extremely rushed. In my opinion the first ten minutes alone could have been its own movie.
I understand going for a fairytale approach, but Disney.. no. This was simply too cliche even for some of your movies. I did however love the animation style, although I didn't like the way ashas clothes seemed to be part of her rig.
As for the 'main cast' of the 7 commoners, I got no personality from about 3. I need way more from all of them. How can you have a song dedicating it to how together they are stronger than Magnifico, if we barely have them working together at all.
Your story felt lived in, which is good in some circumstances, but once again I needed more explanation for some of the characteristics regarding characters. Why did the one girl have a cane?? I'm a Disney fan and I can't even recall any of their names, except for Simon of course. Why was he ‘boring’?? I don't understand. Maybe his wish was crushed?? But that wouldn't make sense considering how Magnifico acted the first time he crushed a wish in the movie.
Too many characters rushed into a short movie with no explanation on how they fit together. Felt too much like other Disney characters, I definitely felt Deloris from Encanto. I associated them with the 7 dwarfs at the beginning of the movie, but they basically made no character development. And if they did, the plot was too fast for me to notice.
In my opinion, you needed more solo songs, too many chorus moments. Some of the lyrics made no sense at all to me. The only good song to be was Magnifico’s and even then, too much chorus.
On the note of Magnifico, I love the vain character, he was my favorite. However he became evil WAY too fast, I'm not even going to go into that. I absolutely adored his little checking himself out scenes. His ending was too cliche, like I mentioned, I was relating it to snow white quite early and it was to be expected. I'm sad you locked him away like that, as he was the only reason I even considered watching this.
His wife was your cliché Disney queen without major development. More development. I can't stress that enough.
I adore space and as a space fanatic I loved how related it was to space, but in the sense of the plot besides a star being a companion and the movie being about wishes, I felt no reason to relate it to the dust we originated from. Why go into that detail, when wishing on a star. You ruined my hope for a DECENT space related Disney movie.
Back to me talking about animation., the sleeves drove me crazy. Why were they in fixed positions?? If you can put detail on Asha’s neck as she's singing, you can do a little more with clothes. Facial expressions were loose, yet fixed to where it honestly just felt like animators messed up and didn't bother to fix it.
Asha’s braids. Do more with them. The ends could have had more detail instead of just being rectangles. I loved her mother's hair, loved Magnifico's, but Asha's made me physically cringe at the lack of detail, with your copy and pasted braids. I would have loved to see the loose parts at the end.
Asha's family turned WAY too easily. Like, jeez that's literally her blood and they cared too much about a wish, not even caring that she ran away momentarily. You should have mentioned more about her dad being an astronomer. She didn't really show an interest in space to that level of an astronomer. I'm sad.
This movie had so much potential. I could easily write 3 movies off of your ‘plot’ you got here. I'm not going to go further unless asked into this movie, as I could go on for hours.
