My thirst to know more about resistance is satisfied here. But, Not in a read&done way, rather in a reread&consult way. Continally trying to understand, again, resistance as presented anew by a patient. So, I can be where she's at, not bump into or unwittingly comply with her defensive resistant stance.
I also appreciate Dr. Stark's references to major contributors and theorists incorporating the good parts and not repeating the bad parts of psychoanalytic thought. Always true to the historical underpinnings to her contemporary understanding models incorporates a perspective of where we've been, where we are and where we're headed in helping people resolve barriers to fully living as the person they are. Also, the use of the therapist as an agent of therapeutic change is an emphasis of Dr. Stark's work which is vital in my opinion.
Her other books are similarly valuable in working with patients, understanding, and applying Martha's now 5 models of a psychotheraputic Synergy Paradigm.
