Once in a while a marathi movie comes along that excels in every aspect. Rakshas is an ace film as far as story, direction, setting , cast and camera work is concerned. A must watch. Films like these are hidden gems that get lost in the PR and marketing of the more massy releases. The forest is the story and the rest of the elements are the spokes in its wheel. This film treats the issue at hand quite simplistically...but only because there is a parallel story running along that happens to be central to it. I kept getting the thought that if this would have been better budgeted, the director would have had the canvas to create a bigger impact. But a fabulous effort nonetheless. The cast is good. They complement the story instead of taking away from it. Believable performances. A definite one time see.
