This book is a clinical account of the years 1845-1852 in Ireland. It draws heavily on first-hand accounts by observers, British , European and American travelling through Ireland at that time. 'Famine Cemeteries' can be found throughout Ireland and there is a growing movement to restore them and confront the trauma after a century and a half, often prompted by descendants of expatriates in the US, Australia and around the world. Further evidence can be found apparently in shipping records held in Kew, England and in the records of British regiments stationed all over Ireland and engaged in the transport of foodstuffs to be exported at the time.
