It was fine with some great moments. Actual score given is 70/100.
The casting was an overall success. Lois is excellent. The dynamic and relationship between her and Superman was exceptional, and the absolute best part of the film. Their dynamic gives this film life, without it, the film would completely fail.
I liked most of the characters. Krypto was fun and cute, but they may have leaned a little too much into Krypto. I'm sure everyone will roast me for that take though.
I'm on the fence about Lex. This version was better than the last version of Lex, but that bar is low.
You are thrown into a developed universe from the beginning. They don't take any time to build up the setting or the characters really. I'm glad they didn't give us another origin story, but there is just too much going on from the very beginning.
Clark and Jonathan Kent have one really good moment, which is probably the second best scene in the film, but other than that, the portrayal of the Kents was completely atrocious. The first scene with the Kents was the worst scene in the entire film. I'm not blaming the actors. Although, the accents were terrible. They made the Kents look like bumbling idiots who can barely speak. Also, the story around the biological parents is terrible.
They have some good characters, but the story telling is lazy and weak. Honestly, that is not uncommon for Hollywood these days. I hope they can narrow the focus a little moving forward. I would like to see more of Lois and the relationship between her and Superman. There is a lot of potential here for this to be a great Superman, or DC, universe, but I don't think they will live up to this potential. You have to tell a better story!
