Sam Robinson

Reminiscent of Monk but with an even-more realistically flawed and relatable protagonist. The show, despite following the Monk format explicitly, does a great delivery of performances and modern characters that fills a void in the detective dramedy world. I think the character-driven nature of the show overrides the "gifted detective" trope by leaning into the emotional lives of each character. Special shout out to Kaitlin Olson, Dan Sunjata, Deniz Akdeniz, and Judy Reyes for memorable performances. I always love a fun but heart-tugging detective drama.
