63% on Rotten Tomatoes? Seriously?
They don't make movies like this anymore. I consider this one of John Carpenter's masterpieces.
It was made pre-CGI, with very
little special effects but enough to tell the story. The eerie, ominous music that persistently plays throughout the film, kept me on the edge of my seat.
I was a young child at that time and just prior to watching it, I looked at the cast list, and didn't recognize most of the actors in it, except for the late and beloved, Donald Pleasance and Rocker Alice Cooper. This ensemble cast was nothing short of phenomenal. They had some serious acting chops and did a freaking amazing job.
For those who rejected this movie, I encourage you to rewatch it...by yourselves ..Turn off the lights, don't judge and with an open mind, embrace the darkness.
