Giancarlo Esposito deserves his own vehicle, and definitely deserves better than this offering. Parish is an unoriginal cliché buffet with an underwhelming ensemble. A less than stellar performance from Esposito I attribute to his unwillingness to outshine a mediocre production. Banal direction, cinematography, writing, and costars all leave the viewer wanting better. DEI is not a substitute for actual substance. The addition of Bradley Whitford to the cast later in the season suggests promise, but I'll reserve judgment until this show proves itself other than disappointingly derivative.
