It's a detailed account of an attempt to exemplify how students can grow in Byram's (1997) Intercultural Communicative Competence. I have my own criticism concerning the limitations of ethnography as the only tool besides linguistic knowledge for students to improve their ICC. But the account of what they did is well presented: detailed and organised. I do find it a little unhelpful that we don't know which author wrote what, especially because some ideas within the book are a little contradictory. In sum, It is definitely worth reading as complementation of Byram (1997, 2008) to understand what he had in mind when he was talking about how to apply ICC to language education.
