No real comedy. A brief "quirky" performance by Bill Nighy. Oyelowo seems to be channeling Martin Freeman (unsuccessfully). His character starts beta and ends beta, No hero journey for "Dave". Cuoco plays an alternate universe Penny; same hair, speech, and demeanor but born into unfortunate circumstances.
I despise the cheapest form of drama creation writers perpetrate, placing children in danger. Here, children are kidnapped and statements are made they could come to harm.
I wonder why Hollywood producers are so enamored with casting Brits and other Europeans who can pull off a passable American accent. Are there no actors locally who are on the same level?
Cannot recommend as a "comedy" or even a "rom-com." As a "drama/thriller", walks a well worn path done better by many other moving pictures.
