Octavia Moon

This isn't a thriller in the true sense, it's more like a horror film. It's beautifully crafted and a master craft of character driven story telling. Some of the people's reaction to impending armageddon is irritating, but then I'm guessing some people's reaction to disaster would be annoying. I was left thinking about this film and it's apocalyptic scenario, for days afterwards. Life on our planet is precarious and made more precarious by the lunatics we elect and share it with. I found the ending to be genius - because it perfectly sums up what this situation would leave us with, were it to come to pass. We'll never know why, we'll never know how and we'll never know the end.

It's really bad. I thought it would tell the story of ordinary people trying to survive an alien invasion. Instead we get fragmented and inconsistent stories about people who behave and talk like 12 year Olds. A 'special boy' who can communicate with the aliens, for no logical reason other than the bad writers thought it would be neat. A very competent doctor who keeps repeating "I'm a mom!" as if that's her defining characteristic. This is a 'magical' world, where electricity, phones and TV's either work or don't work depending on the whims of the writer. I found myself comparing it to the excellent story telling of Frank Darabont's first 2 seasons of The Walking Dead; Where people were just ordinary people trying to survive and a pizza delivery boy has some of the best survival skills...and lines.

I loved everything about this show. The story telling is slow and winding like a trail across America, that sometimes shocks and sometimes makes you cry. Isabel May is a revelation and her character Elsa is a perfect narrator for her journey into a dangerous and tragic world. I've watched it twice in four months and will watch it again soon.
