I just watched Music (2021 Film) by Sia. I was done listening to what the masses were saying, and had to watch it for myself. I found I actually liked it. I think it was better than the new Joker film, kinda a more upbeat version of that, and it got more hate than it deserved.
I feel like a lot of the people who hated the film did so out of malice. I read what everyone was saying, trying to keep an open mind, and I avoided watching cause of their opinions, but their words, I found, were not based on facts. It is part of the same crowd who scream cultural appropriation.
I watched some videos of actual autistic kids, and read some of the reviews from people with actual autistic kids, and they all seem to suggest the film got things right... maybe a bit exaggerated here or there... but the bad reviews all say the same things, as if they didn't watch it. It's an echo.
So many of the people who called out the film using their own level of autism feels so icky... like Music seemed like a Level 3, and therefore more extreme. She isn't getting on social media to post reviews of films... the people who did that clearly aren't at that level, and are being "ableist".
Spoilers from here on out.
>!I got a bit teary at the beginning when the Grandma died and Music ignored it at first, but then processed what was happening. I got through all the music videos that came after. The musical portions don't really speak to me, but I could appreciate the visuals.
I think the part that got to me the most, and I actually started crying, was when I realized the support dog he applied for, right before he died, was not for him, as I was thinking, cause he was non-verbal himself...but it was for music. When the dog arrived, I cried knowing he did that for her.!<
