Thankfully the notification for this movie was pushed to my account, otherwise I may have missed it due to lack of advertising. I recently saw The Proposal with Bullock and Ryan Reynolds and this feels similar.
The surprise was how funny Channing Tatum was. He took some odd dialog and situations and masterfully delivered the goods. Look for the scene in the first part where he's driving the blue car and he's "messy." Later, Bullock helps him get rid of some more "messy" and I LMAO'd all through his part. Then there's the hammock scene. The dialog moves fast, so keep your ears open, it's hilarious. And Keep an eye out for Channing breaking out some dance moves, it's nice they wrote it into the story.
Sondra Bullock is a good partner in comedy, as she was with Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal. It's her timing and delivery that sell as well as she always "has something spinning" when there's comedy and/or action around the corner. I've seen her in serious roles and the only one I liked was Gravity which is really just a super far out space trip. Maybe Speed (back in the day) was good, I didn't see it.
The other actor that caught my attention was Rafi, Daniel Radcliffe's soldier played by Hector Anibal. I've seen him somewhere before, he's got that memorable look. Please put him in other movies with bigger roles.
The villain, Daniel Radcliffe must have not been directed well, as his role seemed whiny and flat. Brad Pitt's opening action scene was seriously unique. He had a Mad Max look going on with a couple of dreads and camo type gear.
Overall, the story line was predictable until the climax which had a nice twist. There was actually some weight to the treasure, far beyond the physical.
Finally, I recommend this movie as it moves right along and there's plenty of laughs to make you feel your got your money's worth. The CGI isn't too overwhelming, even though it's filmed on location...?...It's a good match of two stars, shining together, sometimes awkwardly, sometimes smoothly, which is refreshing to watch. Catch it while it's still in theaters.
