I'm not a Tyler Perry fan at all but I watched this movie because I love Kelly Rowland. I was holding out hope the movie would be at minimum not as bad as a Lifetime movie but this was TRASH!!!!! I can't believe how terrible this was even for Tyler Perry. The writing was garbage, the storyline was cliched and the dialogue didn't make sense. The client is accused of murder but he's upset because his lawyer won't admit that she's attracted to him???!!!! (Crazy...LOL). Also, the way the music was used was terrible as well. You could tell he tried to use certain songs to heighten the sexual tension and/or build suspense but it missed the mark at most times or came off as annoying at others. With all that said the thing I hated the most was how Mia was depicted as weak, impressionable and timid. The level of disrespect that Mia endured from her husband, her in-laws and her client was difficult to watch. Normally Tyler Perry tries to "empower" his main characters (who are usually female) yet he made this character weak and lame. Furthermore they kept promoting this movie as an erotic thriller but it feels more like Tyler Perry just crafted a story to justify adding overtly sexual scenes and language to the movie. I loved the erotic thrillers of the 90's like Basic Instinct, Disclosure, Bound, etc. but I must say that this movie was completely awful and not at all a thriller. I don't expect much from Tyler Perry as his movies have repeatedly proven to be low brow but I am absolutely embarrassed for Kelly Rowland. I'm glad this movie was on Netflix because I wouldn't have dared to pay money to see this in a theater.
