Civil War was nearly there, but stopped short of being good. In my opinion it was miscast, misdirected and even the cinematography made it look like a made-for-TV movie. The story was there, but it wasn't fleshed out. It felt like a Walking Dead ripoff for much of it.
A few of the cast carried the water for everyone else. Gravitas. Acting chops. Whatever you want to call it, the cream rose to the top in this movie. But instead of a nice creamy blend, the contrast was sharp, like a pint of black and tan properly poured. If they had a good casting director, that might have been enough. Unfortunately too many people were cast in the wrong roles.
This movie could have been great. Instead we got a straight-to-video movie trying to scrape up some box office money to pay creditors or something. Wait for streaming and don't skip anything important to watch it.
Fun Fact: That is not Matt Damon. It is actor Jesse Lon Plemons.
