I love the original Hocus Pocus. One of my favorite movies! I watch it basically every year for nostalgia reasons and a kind of ritual. I always dreamt of a second movie, and after so many years we finally get what all the hard core fans have asked for! I was excited, couldn’t wait for it to come out! I expected this to be an amazing movie, I was running all kinds of cool themes for it in my head… I saw the trailers and was like “ok”, still was excited… The beginning with the flashback, it was ok, the girls portrayed the witches well, but then after a few minutes of watching I was already done and disappointed. I was hoping it’d get better… but it didn’t… It just kept getting worse. I didn’t feel any emotions or connections like I’ve felt from the first (and I was trying hard). It’s like a completely different movie. So I’m being very generous with the two stars here, I’m only providing these because I still have respect for the original characters but I don’t know why they agreed to this version, maybe to please us fans? Maybe because they didn’t think they’d have another opportunity? It’s a shame because we know they wanted the chance at a second film, too, or at least I thought they did. I still love the first, but am not happy at all about the second. One of the biggest let downs for a movie I’ve had. Let me be clear, this is none of the actors/actress’ faults, not even the new ones, just disappointed the producers/directors didn’t do this story any justice. It had so much potential to be amazing… At least we still have the first…
