What a great debut for Anna Kendrick as a director. This is not your typical serial killer thriller. Kendrick captures some very complex feminist issues in this film and it ultimately ends up feeling like a commentary on society as a whole and the perceptions we hold about how to behave. As a woman there are parts of this movie that leave me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that is intentional and expertly designed by Kendrick’s direction. I can’t wait to see what she does next.
