Pleasantly surprised by the movie. Not sure why so many people have given 1 stars - maybe they were unable to appreciate the underlying points of the movie and subtle jokes scattered throughout.

If you’re looking for a humorous TV show that also illuminates the challenges of familial and societal issues, you’ll enjoy The Upshaws. I remember growing up watching TV shows depicting “perfect” families. Such shows always felt forced. The Upshaws presents a family with their own shortcomings and non-traditional dynamic, but you also see how the family copes. The cast performs very well, especially those playing Regina, Bennie, and Lucretia. I should say I’m a huge fan of Wanda Sykes and her comedic tone. Overall, I’m of the opinion The Upshaws is a great show for anyone to watch.
