I find this gets some pretty poor reviews just based off the beta from 2 months ago, and I would disregard those as that was a BETA.
As someone who has never played a Diablo game before, I didn’t really expect much but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Great graphics, runs well if you aren’t running it on a potato, but could use some optimization here and there. Few bugs but none that are so groundbreaking that the game felt incomplete. Solid customization and transmog systems.
Story was well written with maybe 1-2 plot holes, with solid renders and 2 incredibly animated cutscenes. Main and side characters have their charms and are likable. Great voice acting as well.
Talent build system is a bit streamlined but if you get interesting legendary items you can really create some unique builds. With each class having a few sub specializations to work with, as well as the paragon system once you hit level 50, which expands the talent build system even further.
Very easy to pickup, but can be min/maxed to allow a greater skill ceiling. Challenging but not overly punishing on the starting “hard” (Veteran) difficulty, with a few lackluster bosses but others that bring you to the edge of your seat.
Isn’t labeled as an MMO but essentially is, with similar open world and grouping systems to a game like Destiny, so might not be the game for you if a solo experience is preferred. Fun to group with friends and interesting to run into other people and see how they play/build. Ran into very few connection issues even playing on 500mbs wifi.
Biggest downside honestly is the cost, and if that’s a dealbreaker for you just wait til it goes on sale or drops in price, cause it’s honestly a fun game, especially in an era of unfinished and poorly released AAA games.
