To me "We Own This City" digs deep at systemic problems plaguing many cities around the country. Mostly by highlighting corrupted institutions, showing how bureaucracy and politics inevitably hinder real change. It feels like a modern continuation of David Simon's "The Wire" only this time based off of actual events. The show follows a corrupt unit in the Baltimore police department that are eventually brought to justice. I Wouldn't expect anything else from the show runners other than creating a world which the viewer is given access to all sides to the endless struggle of the drug war. They certainly deliver in compelling fashion.
