Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Band of Brothers and The Pacific fan, so I've been waiting for this show for a very long time. I am happy to say that I was NOT disappointed! The scenes in the air gave me goosebumps, and Hanks captured exactly what I pictured the air war to be like...but even more sobering than I could've imagined. I've read the show's namesake by Don Miller, as well as memoirs from men in the 100th BG, Harry Crosby and Frank Murphy. I am ASTOUNDED in the ways the show has already matched up with the books. I know people are saying that they "haven't gotten attached" to any of the men yet like they were after the first episodes of Band of Brothers, but there's one thing people need to remember: Easy company was a hundred men...the 100th BG came over from the states in 1943 with 350 air and ground crewmen. They sometimes lost over 100 men on a single mission (120 on one mission in Oct.). It's not exactly fair to compare these two shows based solely on the sheer difference in scale, regardless of if they're made by the same producers (Hanks, Spielberg, Goetzman). I specifically love the characterizations of Egan, Crosby, and Ken Lemmons (played by Raff Law). These real men are being portrayed just as they were described by their friends in books and interviews before they passed. If anyone thinks Callum Turner's portrayal of John Egan is not reflective of how the man truly was, I'd recommend that they read the before-mentioned books, or do some research on the 100th BG Foundation website. I cannot wait for the rest of the show!!
