The opening imagery I thought was visually very interesting but somewhat self-indulgent, and drawn out, and I thought should have perhaps been placed elsewhere throughout the film to compliment Kirstin Dunst's character, Justine's, spiral of depression, and the impending doom of the planetary collision. I don't think we needed to take an entire hour for the wedding reception, which then completely shifts to another character's story - concern about the coming planetary collision - leaving Justine to aimlessly wander in and out of scenes. And a side note, it takes almost the whole movie to figure out who is related to whom. Yes, I get that the entire movie is filled with metaphoric and literal aspects of depression. If you want to spend over 2 hours of your time watching someone go through that then this is your movie. I think it could have been structured and executed better to demonstrate mental illness. I couldn't wait to get to the end where the planet smashes into the Earth and ends the movie.
