Not scary, suspenseful, or interesting. Just boring. No one behaves in a sensible manner and the back story and flashbacks do nothing to make the main characters interesting or likeable. I get the metaphor, it's just not presented in an entertaining way. This is not a horror/scary movie in any sense which is what it is presented as. It would have been better if they just made it a drama and left the monster out of it entirely.
