The end of season 2 was as predictable as is was awful. Very! Pointlessly killing off a good character and then lovingly welcoming the the one that was responsible. Absolutely unacceptable. I had high hopes for the show and was quite enjoying it, however, it's clear the writers were scrambling for ideas too early on and that throwing in some obvious, drawn out, weakly scripted emotional shock factor was an attempt to buy some thinking time. Apparently, it worked. The show dragged for another 4 seasons. The shock factor death in season 5 not only makes the back of season 2 even more obsolete, it also shows the scrambling desperation of the "writers" never really righted. Good riddance.

Painful. Jeff deals with some of, with the possible exception of Troy and Annie, the most awful, self centered, ignorant destructive characters in television! Yet, after every betrayal, every selfish manipulation, crippling humiliation, personal and mental violation, the lies, abuse and constant dismissal of his actual thoughts and feelings for their own, he forgives them. He not just well adjusted, he's a saint. He would be phenomenally better off with as much time and space between him and his viscous abusers as possible. Yet, the circus never seemes to end. He just coming back for more punishment.
