I’m a long-term avid Tolkien fan and have read every book several times and have read the entire History of Middle Earth series by Christopher Tolkien. You can call me a purist who was frustrated by Peter Jackson’s needless wandering from the written word. While this series departs from the limited sections in various books, I think it is quite good. I’m intrigued by the plot set-up and new characters. With less detail in the canon, there is ample room for interpretation and the producers are taking appropriate license. Cinematically it is extremely well produced.
