*SPOILERS AHEAD*
This movie IS beautiful. The silence is the point! People complain about it being too slow and “mopey” but that’s the problem with people, they get so caught up in their own wants and desires that they forget that there’s other stories to be heard. I found myself working through the emotions with Jakub because I myself went through a death, child birth and career change in a short span. I myself am actively working on healing the trauma from my own childhood to be a better parent. I always tell myself “ everything matters but also it doesn’t matter “ so I don’t get overwhelmed with my own thoughts. I found myself trying to understand Lenka and jakub. I wanted to know about their life and why they ended up here. Isolation and loneliness is a huge issue amongst us today. It’s not meant to be an action packed space movie. It’s about love, love for yourself, love for others around you, love for other living beings. “Where you go I go, where I go you go” I took it as empathy for others and their experiences. “It’s the beginning and it’s the end” is a great way to look at things that don’t work out can perhaps lead you to something better for you. The end is the beginning. There’s so many life lessons and gems of dialogue in this movie, if you take the time to listen. I normally don’t sit and watch a movie anymore because of adhd and life seems to be more important but this had me still, engaged on the couch for the entire runtime. I watched it along side my 9 yr old and even she understood the concept. By the end we were sobbing and holding eachother telling eachother how important we are to one another. 10/10 Adam Sandler killed the role.
edit:
How could I forget to mention Hanus?!?!!! Such a beautiful creature to reminds us how we as human complicate things for ourselves. Punish ourselves when we don’t need too. When hanus asked why do we keep promises if we break them, why do humans leave their mates and offspring, i audibly replied “because it’s not the simple!” By why can’t it be? Not for nothing, I would love an 8 armed embrace from hanus! Lol
