The laugh track in the first episode made me question why I bothered. It seemed out of place. By the third episode I was hooked, however. The gritty, and extremely realistic dialog pulls you in. And that is its strength: Its realism. Family fights, worn out furniture, railing against a cold, dispassionate world, and hanging on no matter what. There are no easy fixes in most of our lives, but we can pull through if we pull together.
