I saw this movie's title few hours ago while I was browsing on my Fb wall. When I watched it, I knew by the first scene and cinematography that it will be worth it—and I was right! The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is soul touching, not only because of the elements of the film (such as background music, cinematography, lighting, colors, etc.), but because it invokes the beauty of a life being lived. Sometimes, especially in this generation, we tend forget to appreciate the things that are given (life, nature, moments, perceptions, etc.) and focus on 'grinding' to have that 'successful life'. But, for once, let us ask ourselves: what is a successful life? If it is only measured through a lavish career and lifestyle, then are those who don't have the aforementioned but live a happy and harmonious life not successful? Like many things, success is subjective. I can define success as "luxury" but others may define it as "simple living" as well. Regardless of which, this concept of living is grounded in both. The point is: we should not forget to live. Like Walter, may we use our life to make our imaginations/dreams come true (I'm not saying that you go to the Himalayas and watch a snow leopard). All I'm saying is: let us not confine ourselves in our jobs, academic life, or whatever it is that society expects from us. There's more to life than waking up everyday just to go to work and then head home after an eight-hour shift. Pause in the in-betweens and see the beauty around you. Be quirky!
Another thing: sometimes, circumstances makes you forget that you're human—and humans are supposed to feel, to experience and see the beauty everywhere. The world may tell you that you are too 'dreamy' or 'sentimental' but may you never conform and easily accept what is regarded as 'common sense'. Experience! And remember that you are a living being; you are supposed to live, not just exist.
